We’ve been having record rainfall here in the Bay Area for the past couple of weeks and so Taylor and I have been cooped up inside a lot. I don’t really know why, but even when she’s not outside, T.J.’s mood changes when the weather changes. I’ve been wanting to take her to the park, but there hasn’t been enough sun to go there, so we’ve been creating our own “park” indoors. We made an indoor sandbox for Taylor using a plastic tub and cornmeal. She ended up eating a lot of the cornmeal which seemed wholly unappetizing to me, but she didn’t seem to mind at all. We also built a tunnel using blankets and her baby gates. The tunnel was really more entertaining for me than for her, although she did enjoy peeking out from under the blankets at me:

I used to love Daylight Savings – it was really nice to have an hour more light in the day, but I have a new perspective on it now. When it rolled around this past fall, it took us two months to get Taylor back onto a normal sleeping schedule. So far this one is not starting off so well either. Taylor’s bedtime has been all over the map this week. We’re trying to get her back on track, but I can’t really blame her for not wanting to go to bed when it’s broad daylight outside! We also think that she’s getting her molars, which is causing her a significant amount of discomfort. That, combined with the fact that she’s been sick for over a week could also be contributing to the problem. If it takes us another two months to get into the groove again, I might just consider moving to a state that doesn’t have Daylight Savings Time (hmmm….I hear that Hawaii is pretty nice this time of year!)
