Taylor has a boyfriend. She’s been seeing him on a daily basis and she flirts with him unabashedly.
Here’s a picture of him:
He’s one of three bears on a mobile that came with her Pack N’ Play. She’ll sit and stare forever at Mr. Bear and she’ll gurgle and coo and smile at him. I think it’s love. I just hope that bear doesn’t break her heart!
Last weekend, Taylor had some eye problems – it turns out that she had a clogged tear duct. It was her first medical problem, but it seems to be clearing up now. We went to the pediatrician yesterday for her 6-week checkup. Taylor now weighs 10 lbs, 3 oz. and she’s 22-1/2″ long. The doctor said she’s doing great. After her appointment, we took her to see her very first movie, “Batman Begins”. Zach and I enjoyed the movie, but T.J. didn’t seem too impressed – she slept almost the entire time (we think she might take after her grandma Laura in that respect!).
We took this picture of her in her ducky pajamas. I think that she looks a bit like the Gorton’s fisherman:
We took the following pictures of Taylor when she fell asleep in her Boppy:
And these are when she fell asleep in the sling (she looks like a little pea in a pod):
During the daytime, T.J. sleeps like a champ, but in the evenings sleep has fallen by the wayside as she’s been waking during the night more frequently and demanding that we give her our attention. The Native Americans had their rain dance and I have my sleep dance – I run through a steady routine of attempting to distract Taylor by dancing, singing, rocking, gliding (and on and on). It didn’t work in getting her to fall asleep, but we did have rain this week, so maybe I’m doing it wrong! We’re hoping that she’ll start sleeping through the night before we get to retirement age!
One final note…I weighed her last weekend and she’s up to 9.5 lbs. What a chunky monkey!!
Taylor had her first real bath last night. She really seemed to like it and it calmed her down enough so that she ate and went right to sleep afterwards. That was a welcome relief for Zach and I because the previous two nights, she was awake and fussy for most of the night. She seems to get her nights and days confused sometimes, which translates into LOOOONG nights for us! We’re trying to get her straightened out, but she sometimes seems to have plans of her own.
Taylor after her first bath:
Zach, Taylor and I went to a new parents support group yesterday. There were about 30 new parents with babies under 6 months old. It was a pretty welcoming and informative group. It’s comforting to know that no matter what we are going through, there are several other people who can echo our same situation. We’re not alone after all!
We had dinner with my parents and took some pictures of Taylor with Grandma Laura and Grandpa Paul (aka “GrandPaul”):

Taylor is a pretty angelic little baby so far. She sleeps most of the time and is almost impossible to wake up! The first week was pretty rough as far as nursing, but I got some help from my friend Heather and things seem to be getting a lot easier. Taylor had her first appointment with the pediatrician last Sunday and she had already gotten back up to her birth weight (she’s a good little eater, just like mom and dad!).

Liz & T.J. doing great:
Our sweet daughter, Taylor Jules Radding was born yesterday, May 12, 2005 at 4:18 a.m. She weighed in at 6lbs, 12 oz. and was almost 21″ long. Zach and I put together this website for her as a kind of virtual baby book. We’ll be posting pictures and writing about what’s going on in her life. Eventually, she can post to her own website, but for now we’ll be narrating.
Just the three of us:
Ain’t she cute!:
One tired mom, one ticked baby:
